my one requirement of my future abode (the one i'll spend years planting roots and raising chillins in) is that the place i lay my head at night be located within hearing distance of operating railroad tracks. something about the trains that run through at night helps me sleep, or at least leaves me calm, soothed, and relaxed. it's reminicent of waves on a shore, or the noise of a waterfall or creek.
i also wouldn't mind churchbells.
that's one reason shatford was the best dorm on campus.

Sometimes if the air is right you can hear a train's horn at my house at night, which is strange because the nearest tracks are miles away.
That, and the frogs chirping in the trees, and the approaching thunderstorm last night, made me so glad I'm finally able to sleep with the window open again.
