senior year, week one (and then some)
day 1
woke up, meredith was there (she came out early and spent the night). we ate brunch at pizza hut and left nate medders a tip in quarters in the interest of laundry money. moved in. spent about 2 hours trying to bunk the beds and adjust their heights with meredith and josiah. just about every task ended with josiah saying "in hindsight...it would've been better if i'd....." load of fun today.
day 2
got to see dignal and her house. wicked jealous of those hardwood floors, but it sucks that it's so far on the edge of campus. really met aaron baker for the first time and had a blast goofing off in general. earlier in the day saw matt arnold run past the window with short hair and reacted before realizing who it was. he played with us a bit. i showed him the secret plunger stick and told him of its proper use (sorry kids, i cant tell you. its a special mma thang). on the way back he found a rather large toad in our backyard. proceeded to freak out meredith with it. he even put it in the dryer. left it there a long time, then pretended like it jumped out and he couldnt find it and then he left. meredith split her wig, and then i ran the dryer to make her think i was killing the toad, and we left for carmel about 5 minutes after it started its cycle. took mere, joe, josiah, heather, and karissa to the mellow mushroom and then world market. let them watch seinfeld at dad's while joe & i loaded my stuff in his truck.
day 3
mere broke the bathroom, causing it to flood. had to ask josiah to fix it. much embarrassment. went to the hostetler's for the baptism service after which various little kids had boat fights, and MAME went on a cruise. afterwards went to the jew's neighbor's apt to watch a movie. dustys apt was filled with cds, movies, vinyls, and intellectual books. we were impressed. we watched solaris and then followed it with a "deep" discussion on various philosophical and religious implications. ::weirded out::
day 4
jeff timmer found out who i was. very disappointed. it's all meredith's fault for saying my name in front of him in the student center. took a trip to winona lake/grace college for a soccer game starring "baka" - sarah dignal's camp friend paul. mere, sarah, christy, and i were impressed with the grace college boys. mucho eye candy. they were rather like taylor boys only lots better. went home and watched "so i married an axe murderer" and followed that with freshman prank calls to meredith, which got old after an hour or so.
day 5
classes started. went to them all. they seemed slightly less than annoying. hopefully this semester won't be too bad. figured out who meredith's freshman stalker was. met him. he's even more annoying in real life. chris is also getting a little less than exciting. "no freshman would do this!" -- honey, no one BUT a freshman would do that. but i wont tell him, i'll let him live the dream for as long as he can. while the freshman were in my living room some random girl came in our house and went in me & mere's room looking for "tish." informed her she was in the wrong house. the freshman stole her beverage and drank it himself. found out later at all hall meeting and unit meeting that tish is our neighbor. amused.
day 6
day 2 of classes. still ok with them, though biology is waaaay too dependant on IWU's technology for my comfort. everything is blackboardized, including the syllabus and notes. not very impressed with this dependance on such a faulty aspect of the school. my grades better not suffer for it. speaking of which, internet doesnt work on either comp. wondering when internet guy will show up. went to youth group -- not too exciting. seems disorganized as far as getting lessons to the leaders goes. hope it improves in the interest of smoothability. visited matt arnold late at night with a bowl of creamed corn. meredith threw her spoon from her pasta at his window to get his attention and got it stuck in the gutter. it was pink. matt rescued it. proceeded to work with him at convincing meredith to go inside and apologize to mark (formerly of scripture) for blowing him off freshman year. she didn't take the bait.
day 7
one class cut short for school convo that i skipped coz its stupid. second class canceled according to popular rumor. went to work even though i wasnt scheduled for some reason and ended up switching with the closer so i got the hours i shouldve got. we close earlier now but seem to work just as late because people are still ordering between 9-10. that sucked, coz it was more work for me. at least michael the gay manager was there to keep jeremy the hot manager working instead of slacking.
day 8
classes, then some friends played frisbee at 4 in the cm field but i was shopping for campable pants in the school bookstore. left around 6:30 for the dunes up near michigan city, IN. spent the entire carride either listening to jenalee's stories from the past year or sleeping to avoid the intense feeling of motion sickness i was enduring. our car got to the campground an hour and a half earlier than others. set up camp in dunewood D sites 19&20. decided to accompany michelle, christy, and meredith to the bathrooms. got completely and utterly lost...christy asked literally everyone we passed for directions and no one else knew anything coz of how bootleg the setup was. walked around the entire campground (no joke) and one car christy had stopped (and told our personal info to) circled back around for us and told us to get in -- creeped us out, but they said they understood and we got in anyways. found out they were wheaton college students. they took us to a bathroom, then back to the path to our site. bathroom was incidently full of grace college girls. God works in mysterious ways. sang worship songs around the campfire and prayed some, then went to bed.
day 9
woke up late (10 am) and then went to bathroom without getting lost. packed up camp and headed for the beach. climbed a big ol' dune to get there and then all our boys ripped their shirts off and headed for the water. meredith and i exchanged quite a few glances over that one. mere and i decided to take a beach walk (not because of shirtless guys -- inspite of them) and ended up walked probably 4 miles total. we headed from our starting point out to the power plant ruining the landscape. took lots of pictures, then turned around and headed back. christy, tim, and melissa only ones still there. proceeded to follow iffy directions to a picnic site for lunch (hot dogs and chili). cleaned up and left for another dune (mt. baldy - very intense climb) and stayed on top of it all afternoon in order not to kill self climbing again. mere, jo the girl, and i buried matt's shirt in the sand while he was in the water. told jo not to move so we didnt lose it. she moved. we lost it. but found it again much later. took lots of pretty pictures with mere's cam. decided to buy my own next paycheck. talked lots with jenalee. boys came back and did their weird brand of "team challenges/gymnastics" which mainly consist of weird physical challenges that probably look homospicious to outsiders. stuff like crawling around each other without being dropped, etc. jenalee, katie, melody, and jo attempted weird acts as well, but mostly failed. then proceeded to build the obligatory human pyramid, with me photographing. matt arnold was on top at one point and managed to do a handstand. extremely impressed. went back to picnic site for dinner (hot dogs, potatoes/carrots/onions with cromer's special seasoning, and fire backed apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter), got ready to leave just as a park ranger stopped by. had to put out fire (right after adding a can of bug spray to it -- lucky it didnt splode). started to leave but fire sprang up again. mere insisted on watering it one last time. left for home. rode with cromer. jenalee told us of her "sixth sense" when it comes to music -- apparantly some GC song "speaks to her soul". laughed very hard at her. she also told us it wasnt about the words, it was the music. her soul is in the music. still laughing. got home, showered, bed.
day 10
all my friends headed to brookhaven for "roundup sunday" but i went off to hartford city for the outdoor service. it was hot, full of bees, and i got dehydrated. brittany & walter did an awexome job singing in service. phenomenal. got sunburned on one arm. after was the church picnic. ate good food with josiah, heather, karissa, and joe. left early with the girls plus one random IWU freshman that came with the freshmen boys. went home for homework. walmart run with meredith with hopes of cooking dinner for matt, but failed in our plans. maybe later this week. watched pirates of caribbean with jo, mere, sometimes matt, and sometimes ben wolken. matt stole the phone, mere had to rescue it.
day 11
classes, and summit chapel. it was profizzle so it was good. then checked mail and three hours of class (bio, psalms, pentateuch). came back to find out mere won the guitar from taste of marion. she's psyched. i'm jealous. :\ loaded and played the sims. internet guy came only to tell us he couldnt help us if it was a problem with the jack. gave me some software to fix my intermittant problems. hopefully that's the end of my probs. mere went to night class but got out early so we could skip summit together. (we hate canned spirituality). made a hobby lobby run and went to walmart only to find they didnt have my printer cartridges out front. employee was less than helpful. then drove to staples only to be 14 minutes late. annoyed. have to load mere's printer on here and use it instead. mere called mma a few times, then called aaron baker to make his life more interesting and tell him she likes the flower garden at the ele school too and they could go pick flowers together sometime. during this convo, tim and i tied her into the closet with extension cord. almost left her in there while making a taco bell run, but decided to bring her with. had fun. came back and started doing this.
current mood: bored
current music: dashboard confessional and strong bad
