just for the sake of updating

i closed pizza hut tonight with amy and tara (yes, it was quite fun). i'm not usually the back-of-house closer on saturdays (i believe its generally a roos twin of some sort), so having to wait until midnight to begin closing cleanups instead of my usual ten was odd. i suppose i should get used to it seeing as how pretty soon i'll be waiting until eleven (summer hours! yay!).

i don't think we got an order past ten. washed all the dishes possible in about fifteen minutes, and then did the Last Big Sweep two hours early ("tara, the floor is made of lava!"). i even swept out the walk-in. gosh, i was bored. then i stood in front of the dish area for awhile, letting my eyes linger upon the shiny metallic surface. i realized it had an all-over orange tint (no, not rust -- just sauce residue). i decided to scratch pad the entire surface area hardcore-style. forty-five minutes later i was done and ready to brag so i went looking for amy. she and tara were sitting down in the dining area chatting.

they were exchanging dog stories. every now and then i would throw out a rather superior story about the cats i've lived with in the past. amy asked when she should bring in a kitten for me. i laughed. (man, right about now i could go for my own apartment). my dad "hates" cats. (i'm pretty sure i can remember some times that he got quite attached to a stray or two and denied it later)

after we were done cleaning and closing, tara and i were waiting on amy to finish up her manager stuff. she was walking around and folding the long register tape up and at one point i thought she had it stuck to her shoe and didn't realize it. tara and i laughed over that one.

which reminded me of a time long ago, eating at the cracker barrel with my family (who all lovingly refer to the place as "crapper barrel"). we were seated at a table pretty darn close to the front. caryn left to go use the bathroom. upon her return we all noticed that she had some toilet paper stuck to her shoe. and it trailed on.....in fact, if memory serves me right, we couldn't see the end of it. i believe it may have actually been still attached to the roll located in the women's restroom.

it's one of my favorite things.
