ok, here's how closing at pizza hut went tonight....[julia] completely lucked out by not having to be closing manager:
it all started at about 9:25 when Ian left. al had told him to bus about 3-4 tables for nate and then he could go...i guess he didn't realize that part of bussing tables is EMPTYING THE BUS TUBS. so perched on top of all the dishes that were already back there were 3 completely full bus tubs. FUN. david roos stayed a little bit late to help out. the phones kept ringing even past close...we got about one new order every five minutes. after everyone but nate, al, jason, tony, and i had clocked off, which was ten til close.....forty people walked in. the mount vernon boys track team, a group of people celebrating graduation, and an indian family. nate was going nuts. tony wanted to make his employee meal, but we'd already run out of all pan dough, only had 10 large handtossed left and a little bit of thin dough. nate asked tony to wait until he'd gotten all the orders in just in case, and tony got MAD. he couldn't understand how we could possibly think we'd use all that dough (remember--we're still answering phones on top of the dining room). he yelled at me, kind of got in my face, and badgered everyone until al finally told him to take a large handtossed. i was still making pizzas at that point (when i wasnt on the phone) so he made sure to complain to me. his whole reason for NEEDING to make his pizza right away was so he could leave. after half an hour of standing around complaining and cutting a few pizzas, he finally left.
nate and i left at about 12:20. al was still there (and he hadn't spent ANY time on the phone).
