yessssssssssss. its 2 a.m. and i'm getting my art on.
meredith decided to "flash tea tye" her sailcloth that will be the outside of the guestbook she's making for her senior show. i dont know if she coined the term herself or if its a real term. anyways, she heated up 4 or 5 batches of tea and put it all in a big vat, and tossed in her cloth and left it there a couple seconds and pulled it out. i had to convince her it was done enough to keep her from leaving it in long enough to get that "ace bandage" color we really didn't want.
so then, having a vat of tea we didn't want to waste, we each tossed in a pair of socks and then one wife-beater i used to wear under my work shirt (but i dont care enough to anymore). i think those are pretty ace-bandage now.
i asked matt if he wanted anything tea-dyed, but alas, he doesn't own any whitey-tighties for us to soak. everyone was bummed.
then i decided to get even MORE creative and melted a few candle remnants down in a jam jar. batik-style. meredith couldn't figure out what i was doing. i didnt want to ruin any cookware, so i put the wax in the jam jar, and then i fill a skillet with an inch or so of water and heat that up on the stove, with the wax jam sitting in the middle of the skillet. it's a great way to heat up wax. and i batiked some of meredith's watercolor paper. i cant move on to the second step til it dries...that'll be overnight, though.

"Um, YEAH." -meredith
it's times like these that i mentally kick the crap out of myself for deciding against being an art major. i'd have made one wicked grood one, i think.
dag, yo.

Did you crinkle and tea-stain any paper?
The reason we all have different majors is so that we can live vicariously through each other without quadruple majoring, hello.
