steal my car

So.

some of you may remember the wicked fun times last winter...the times where the key to my car would stick in the ignition and refuse to come out. after starting the engine repeatedly, banging on the steering wheel, changing gears, and trying all sorts of other variables, usually after 15-20 minutes the key would come out.

then the weather warmed up and the issue went away.

ha.

ha ha.

yeah right.

THIS TIME around, things are different. much different. and not in my favor.

the dang key has been lodged in my ignition for the past 4 days straight. absolutely will not come out. last year i took the car in to the dealership and they said the key i had was so wicked old and worn it was the problem, so pay $15 to them to make a brand new one. that didn't change things. so then dad took the car to miller auto care in carmel and they replaced the ignition. also not the problem.

i still don't know what the problem is.

so now when i go to work, i make sure to take my cute little trusty wrench with me. i park. i pop the hood. i prop it up. people in the sears hardware parking lot across the street stand a little straighter and take notice. the menfolk are probably wondering if they should offer their services to the young lady looking at her engine. but before they can open their mouths, i whip out that cute little wrench and twist the bolt on my battery a couple times, and then with my fingers twist it out the rest of the way. then i pocket both the bolt and the wrench, and close the hood.

so basically if i want to go places first i gotta hook the battery back up, and then when i get there i gotta unhook it again. and the car's just perpetually unlocked. til i can get my spare key from joe, then i can start locking my car again!

not that i have anything in there worth stealing (i've made sure of that).

i think the ideal situation here is one day after work i step outside into the freezing rain and notice the lack of red pontiac grand am. and then i buy a new used car with insurance.

but that would never happen. mainly because not many car theives carry bolts to car batteries around in their pockets.
