i have always had the weirdest nightmares. i don't usually remember them, but when i do, i'm amazed at what comes out of my head when i sleep. i've been turned into a rabbit, sent back with my family (minus my sister, who simply didn't exist) to our old house, and lived in the neighbor's yard playing tricks on my mother, father, and brother (who was no longer "adam" but became "angus"). this was not too long after reading Watership Down for the first time, so it's explainable.
and it may not sound nightmarish, but during the dream it certainly was. it just had that nightmare "feeling" to it.
i've also had nightmares that were animated -- yes, cartoons. santa claus (who was a very wee little cartoon man, very angry and loud and always jumping in the air as he yelled) zapped me to the north pole to suck my earwax. see, santa lived on the earwax of small children. that's just what he ate. once he sucked the wax out of their heads, they would die. and it was my turn. pleading for my life, i remember pointing out to him, "if you pick it, it will last longer." santa thought about that one long and hard, and in the end decided to keep me on as his slave. i had to clean his ice-cave mansion. somewhere in there i ate three colored balls that were off-limits and jumped into an ice pool and ended up in a school that looked a lot like the set of Saved By the Bell. then it was no longer animated. i had to use the restroom, but there were boys in the girl's restroom having class, so i woke up having to go really bad. *shudder*
lately, however, i've been having reoccuring nightmares about contacts. yes, the little pieces of filmy stuff that i put in my eyes to allow me to see better. most of the time in these dreams the contacts are huge, anywhere from the size of quarters to bigger than my head, and i'm struggling throughout the dream to put them in my eyes.
i'm just blogging to tell you that last night, the contact-nightmare took a strange turn. instead of being oddly sized, they were cut into animal shapes, like cookies.
the end.

Oh my. You have detailed dreams! I thought my dreams were detailed, but I couldn't explain them very clearly...but apparently they make sense in our heads since it comes out in our dreams. goodness. I've had contact lens dreams before and I don't wear contacts! Never dreamed about animal shaped contacts though. That's new. I wish I had your creativity.
ah, yes. i'm always an artist, even in dreaming.
I've had the contact dreams too (I think we've talked about this before). I haven't had them lately, but I've definitely had them.
One recurring nightmare I have been having lately is that I have a loose tooth, like a molar or incisor. I get all freaked out because these are my permanent adult teeth and if I loose them - that's it. Sometimes they firm up, but once I pulled out the molar. It's just not good to have dreams creating the anxiety of permanent oral disfiguration.
