the air conditioning has been not working in our apartment since about the day or so after we moved in. at that time there was a heat wave going through and temperatures were in the 90s. stink.
so we called three times, and finally directed Julia's wrath-of-God stepfather in the direction of the Autumn Woods Offices and were told that the AC had been fixed. we left it at 70. by this time there was a cool front coming through, so we figured it was fixed.
now there's a second heat wave (90s again) and its become quite obvious that the AC is still not fixed. we got some action from maintenance...they checked it out for real this time and apparantly the "air compressor" is broken and they don't have any on hand, so it'll be fixed when they get one?
julia says tomorrow morning she's going to the office and telling them if it ain't fixed soon (its been 2 or 3 weeks already) then we ain't paying july's rent. we'll see.
my favorite part is that i get to sit in the heat here all day (well, lay. i mostly lay when it's THIS hot) and then head out to my car....also no AC. just the window and hot air blowing. then i go to work. work. pizza hut. i stand next to an oven all day. if it's busy (like tonight) that's FOUR ovens on. four. yay.
i find every chance i get to go hang out in the walk-in fridge at work. that's my favorite place. if i were allowed to stay all night at PH i'd sleep there tonight.

an update: julia called (i instructed her to "be mean" and she completely failed that task) and apparantly there's "no record" of the air compressor conversation had previously, and none has been ordered. the girl said she'd "look into it." julia then called her mom, who's going to follow up and ACTUALLY be mean. then she's going to bring a crapload of fans over tonight.
but if this gets us july'a rent free, i'm all for it.
I can relate. I have no AC either and my landlord thinks it's a fun game to not return my calls... here's what we should do. I'll call your apartment's office and be a jerk; you call my landlord and be a jerk. Freezing cold new air conditioning will ensue.
ooooooooh.......yeah.........see.............today it finally got fixed. that sucks, to be you. wow. i'm freezing right now. note to self: don't wear shorts at home.
after 10+ phone calls between myself, my roommate, and both of my roommate's parents, as well as two or three personal visits from the same parents....it's fixed. two very nice looking (i.e. "hott") gentlemen spent the better part of their afternoon replacing the unit outside our building, and then proceeded to replace just about every component inside our apartment. heck, we even had to go to work and leave them alone in the place.
tonight i think i'll put sheets on the bed.
i'll turn it down another five degrees for all my homies out there who ain't got no AC.
