some jewish beats

i guess it's about time i changed the cd in my cd player in the car. for about the past two or three weeks i've had Matisyahu in there (thanks to jon for the burnage). i've left it in because i get this really cool white girl feeling when i turn up the bass and play tracks 3 and 4 (everywhere i go is only two songs away (mom's-dad's-pizza hut-apartment) and those two have some great beats.

the problem is that i'm completely mellow now, and i've got all this jewish reggae in my head. torah food for my brain, let it rain. and at work i find myself humming the bass line.

crap. and i know as soon as i get home i'm going to burn some incense. i just KNOW.

Those two tracks are definitely the best on his studio CD. I too had that CD in my car player for at least a month and would always flip to those tracks when I would go to McCulloch Middle School or Wal Mart (because that's usually the only places I needed to drive to.) I was slightly disappointed that Got No Water is not on his live album because I do believe that it is perhaps my favorite track of his.

you know, i'm not really sure i even know. i've just always had this Jewish Fetish. one of my childhood "boyfriends" was Jewish -- David Lazarus -- as was the best friend we shared (Samuel Tishfield). And then I've just always had an interest in Israel and Judaism...took a year of Hebrew in high school and read books like Exodus (Leon Uris?) for fun. Then Jon got us into Matisyahu, and you yourself got us into...you yourself.

Yeah.

ps. "jewfuss" is the best word i've read all week.

interesting. here in new york, we have such an influence, even the nonjews are jew-ish. so it's strange for me to think that i had that affect on any one person. i mean what about seinfeld?
