"curiosity killed the cat."
and as lagatita, i knew better than to tempt fate. therefore, today, i have ventured forth in the scrub seat of my little brother's car (i waved a fiver in his face and he agreed to accompany his older "and wiser" sister on her journey) to the keystone at the crossing borders and made the most historic of purchases.
yes, folks. i did it.
i am now the proud owner of "Behind Everyman" by David Israel, reader of my blog.
oh, and i just finished the "author's note" and i'm already enthralled. captivated. enchanted. bewitched. and above all else, determined to finish it before jon even receives his in the mail. it's about freaking time i showed him up book-style.

You're just buggin' (1990s style) because I finished Joyce's "Ulysses" and you're struggling to even get to the halfway point. We've already had this conversation.
My copy was shipped from Lexington, Kentucky today via DHL/Airborne Express (why that vendor, I have no clue) with an anticipated arrival date between the 3rd and the 6th. I'm praying for the 3rd.
it'll still be too late. we both know that. i'll be over halfway before 3 a.m.
alright, jon. here it is 3:0something a.m. and i'm on page 116, beginning chapter 9 -- "how to make God laugh."
heck, if i stay up another 45 minutes this will be DONE.
i'm flattered that you're racing on my little book's behalf. everyman and his publisher thank you.
oh, the pleasure was all mine. not jon's. not even a little bit. because he has yet to receive his copy. and i finished mine at 4:26 a.m.
to quote yoplait -- "c'est si bon...eet ees sooo goooood."
Why are you always trying to "one-up" everyone else? Just embrace your individuality and choose joy when you find someone sharing in your delights also.
um....i'm not so much trying to "one-up" jon as i am playing to his neuroses.
i'd rather he'd been able to read the book at the same time so we could freak out and die over the cool stuff together. now i just have to sit and stew in it.
i don't like to stew.
and besides, this IS my method of "choos[ing] joy when [I] find someone sharing in [my] delights also."
