Entertaining Amy & other work related anecdotes

man, do i feel pressured.

Amy is my favorite manager (and yes this includes you, Julia. you're only like....tied for second with Al. Michael is fourth. or last. whatever.). she seems to get something of a kick out of me. she does fun things like send the servers into the walk-in to get stuff and then climbs underneath the maketable to grab their ankles through the shelves to make them scream. that's amy.

i feel like just about every day that i work with her i have to say something outrageous to make her laugh. i just....i have to. today, it was about the flier someone pinned up on the bulletin board for some beauty pagent/scholarship for $4000. i asked her with an incredulous look on my face why we were advertising for beauty pagents on the bulletin board now. she made a face back and then i said "i mean.......amy...........all the girls that work here are pretty freaking ugly."

a couple days ago i suggested we have a talent show and work up a routine where we parody Abbett and Costello's "Who's on First?" only make it Who's on Cut, What's on Make, and I-don't-know's on Dish.

and today i overheard her telling Jackie (manager in training, about half a foot to a foot shorter than me) about one time when she told me to go help out on dish and i told her there was no way i would if there were any blondes there (we have a plethora of slow annoying blonde employees).

yesterday i gave her a card -- "Dearest Amy, Thank you for this week's schedule. It's beautiful. I love you. Love, Susan." I felt obligated to give the other managers cards as well (I don't want to cause any problems or spark any jealousy). Julia's and Al's weren't too memorable (since I fail to remember them) but Michael's was pretty fun--"Michael, Look! I got you a card! -Susan"

.....
today i had "Take On Me" in my head for the second day in a row, and it wasn't so bad. i was actually enjoying the corky romano parody i did once every fifteen minutes. BUT THEN michael walked by singing ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me" and it was all over. it got so bad that starting at five o'clock i kept track of every time i found my self singing that song out loud. i told him he owed me one dollar for each time. i don't think he's going to pay up, but he owes me thirteen dollars. i stopped counting at 10:oo.

so....now i have to download that song to cure the disease.

Maybe their little test was right. Maybe I wouldn't have fit in working there.
