chick flick

i watched two delightfully cheesy chick flicks tonight. The Princess Diaries 2 and The Prince and Me.

both were incredibly unrealistic and dumb and horrible. and i didn't really mind one bit. girls must refuel themselves on stupid girlish movies at least once a month or they wither away and die. its scientifically proven.

so the second one, as "Prince Edward" and his father the King of Denmark were participating in the coronation of Prince Edward, i noticed something. instead of the King placing the crown upon Edward's head, the crown was handed to a church officiant (bishop? cardinal? priest? i dunno) who then placed the crown upon Edward's head.

theological implications? political implications? no separation of church and state -- the church (being represented by the church officiant) gave the crown its power. this assumes, i guess, that God gave the church its power.

sheesh. i'm finding meaning in chick flicks (though unexpected places). i need to stop thinking.
